Fiberglass Tub Floor Inlays

Home > Products > Fiberglass Tub Floor Inlays

Fiberglass tub floor inlays are not to be confused with tub liners. A tub liner covers the entire tub and the inlay covers only the flat, floor area of the tub. Fiberglass tub floor inlays offer a permanent solution to cracked fiberglass, acrylic, plastic and certain cultured marble tub and shower floors, even those with holes in them. No more sagging or spongy floors to worry about and no leaking tubs and showers. You can now have your tub floor repaired by having our fiberglass tub floor inlay installed on to your acrylic or fiberglass or plastic tub or shower floor, at a fraction of the cost of a renovation.

I think I speak for a great many frustrated people when I say they do not make fiberglass bathtubs and showers as durable as they used to years ago. In today’s world of mass production, quality control is not always at the forefront when it comes to fiberglass and acrylic tubs and showers. The fact that these tubs and showers are made from a mold can present challenges that are not visible during production. Some of these challenges manifest themselves as spider cracks, air pockets or the more technical term is called a void. These are usually found in the floor by the drain, and in the rounded areas of the tub or shower unit. Fiberglass tub floor inlays are a great option to bathtub replacement.

Another issue with acrylic and fiberglass tubs and showers is that many times not enough support is provided in the right areas and even at the installation stage, in many cases, no additional support is added. Over time, the floor area begin to break down, and delaminate or totally give out. It may begin to crack and eventually these cracks will become large enough that the tub or shower will begin to leak, causing considerable water damage to the rest of the home.

In the past you only had two choices

1. You could have the area repaired, which works well in minor cases. With bigger fiberglass repairs there would always be the off chance that the fiberglass tub or shower could crack again beside the repair even if your added support. This could become expensive and very frustrating for the customer and the company doing the repairs.

2. The other alternative is to tear out the tub or shower , then you are into an expensive bathroom renovation running you anywhere up to $10,000. You are now replacing drywall, tile, floor coverings possible plumbing issues, paint, and the list could go on depending on the bathroom.

How do Fiberglass Tub Floor Inlays Work?

Fiberglass tub floor inlays are made from  rigid material.  Two options are offered. A smooth surface along and slip resistant surface can be installed on the floor of the damaged tub or shower after the floor has been reinforced. The floor of tub or shower is measured to determine the size and configuration of the inlay. Then after careful preparation of the floor, the custom made inlay is then installed with an adhesive that is formulated to provide a permanent bond to the original surface. Once cured, the new inlay will function better than the original tub or shower surface because of the added support across the floor area and will not crack under normal use conditions.

Fiberglass tub floor inlays can be installed on steel, acrylic, fiberglass, plastic, and certain cultured marble tubs. The fiberglass tub floor inlays can be color matched to virtually any tub color. (An up-charge for color matching applies).
Please note that only the flat part floor of the tub is repaired and that the rest of the tub is not refinished. This service is available at an additional cost. The warranty for our fiberglass tub floor inlay is a 1 year normal use warranty, covering adhesion and cracking of the inlay itself, and is transferable should you sell your home. The original receipt must be presented on any warranty issues.
